Got my replacement engine torn down and figured out what parts need replacing. Well within spec so got very lucky. Oil clearance is right in the middle of the range. Throw some new bearings in and it should be good to go.
Going to swap out the heads and IP for a 84/85 version, should bump up the MPG to 25-26 hopefully. New waterpump, new injectors, and the rest of the usable parts off the old engine.
Front clip is off the Rover.Think I just need to drop the drive shafts and I am ready to yank the old one. Will do that tomorrow.
Then start cleaning up everything. Want to rerun the fuel lines and some electrical stuff while I have it all cleared out.
New parts due this week. Think next weekend I might be able to get it swapped.
Need to work out a better location for the batteries and see if I can get the Mojave heater set up in the stock location. Then I think I will be back on the road.
Also Getting rid of the PTO and winch and going electric.
Before the summer I hope to rebuild the overdrive

Old drive train is out. Have items from old engines that I intend to re-use removed.
Starting cleaning parts.
Though the replacement is a used engine, it looks like I could have just dropped it in and run it, but prudence requires a mild rebuild.
I am very tempted to move it back 3". There is room.

After going to the rally for the first time in '08, I'm hoping to make this one since I missed CO in '09.
